Perform rescue from a live LV panel
This unit covers the performance of rescue procedures from live low voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables in the workplace. It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.
The application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence/registration to practice in the workplace subject to regulations for undertaking of electrical work.
Other conditions may apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licencing requirements which must be confirmed prior to commencing this unit.
Performance Evidence Required
Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on one occasion and include:

applying relevant work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements, including the use of risk control measures
-
inspecting and placing rescue equipment
-
identifying and labelling the isolation point
-
performing a rescue from a low voltage (LV) panel in accordance with workplace procedures.
Knowledge Evidence Required
Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

emergency procedures for the rescue of a victim from a live LV panel encompassing:
-
inspection of rescue equipment
-
assessing hazards to rescuer, victim and others
-
isolation procedures, where appropriate
-
safe approach distances SAD appropriate to rescue from a live LV panel
-
involvement of external emergency services
-
-
emergency procedures required for the rescue of a victim from a live LV panel encompassing:
-
placement of rescue equipment
-
controlling hazards to rescuer, victim and others
-
maintaining SAD appropriate to rescue from a live LV panel
-
removing victim to safe location/place of safety.

Course Prerequisites
HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a pre requisite for this UETTDRRF06 Perform rescue from a live LV panel course. Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance.
Important note: In order to issue an accredited certificate, CPR must be performed on the floor with no exemptions.
Clothing: We suggest that you wear comfortable casual clothing, as the practical nature of the demonstrations and practice may possibly require bending, kneeling and lying on the floor. Pants and flat shoes are recommended.
Course Details
Face to Face:
The face to face training is 2.5 hours and covers both theory and practical aspects of UETTDRRF06 Perform rescue from a live LV panel.
Students are required to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the course commencement or will be refused entry.
There is a short multiple choice quiz at the end of the training covering the course theory learnt that day.
Students will also be assessed on practical skills as a requirement to pass the course. .
Certificate Validity
Industry standards for refresher training for the UETTDRRF04 Perform rescue from a live LV panel course vary from state to state. Most states recommend refresher training for this unit every 12 months.
