Service Description

Overview Nationally accredited course covering the skills and knowledge to recognise, respond to, and manage a first aid emergency — including CPR, AED use, and treatment of injuries and medical conditions — delivered entirely in-person with a qualified trainer. Units covered HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support (BELS) HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid What's covered in class DRSABCD action plan and emergency response CPR on adults and infants Using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) EpiPen use for anaphylaxis Managing bleeding, burns, fractures and sprains Responding to heart attack, stroke, asthma, seizures, diabetic emergencies Choking, poisoning, and bites/stings Incident reporting and reviewing the response Format 100% in-person — no pre-learning modules or online components required Hands-on practice with manikins and real equipment throughout Trainer-led demonstrations and supervised practice Duration Typically a half-day session (commonly around 6–7 hours for the full HLTAID011 including CPR and BELS) — confirm your exact session length based on your own delivery plan. Assessment Practical: perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin on the floor, plus use of an AED and first aid skills. Theory: short written knowledge assessment Assessed on the day, in person Entry requirements No prior experience needed Minimum age 14 (parental/guardian consent required if under 18) Valid USI (Unique Student Identifier) Must be physically able to perform CPR on the floor Certification Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued on successful completion — usually emailed same day. Certificate doesn't legally expire, but renewal every 3 years is recommended (industry standard) to keep skills current.
